# CMAQ 5.4 project bld error

I get the following while building CMAQ project. Any advise?

It is difficult to know what is causing the Illegal variable name. Are you using this version of the bldit\_cctm.csh script? [CMAQ/bldit\_cctm.csh at main · USEPA/CMAQ · GitHub](https://github.com/USEPA/CMAQ/blob/main/CCTM/scripts/bldit_cctm.csh)

Are you using the tcsh shell to run the script?

```auto
echo $SHELL

```

Did you run the bldit\_project.csh script to create a $CMAQ\_HOME project directory first, or are you trying to run the bldit\_cctm.csh script from the CMAQ\_REPO directory?

Before you run the bldit\_cctm.csh script, edit the following line to specify your local directory

```auto
 set CMAQ_HOME = /home/username/path

```

Please use the following commands,

cp bldit\_cctm.csh bldit\_cctm.csh.old

vi bldit\_cctm.csh

Then search and find shaID and change the following lines accordingly,

set shaID = fb7856ef5c #`git --git-dir=${CMAQ_REPO}/.git rev-parse --short=10 HEAD`  
#if ( $? != 0 ) then  
#set shaID = “not\_a\_repo”  
#endif
