# FINN fire emission process

If you use the Briggs scheme based on heat flux you do not have to modify SMOKE source code. It is part of the laypoint program ([4.6.&nbsp;Laypoint](https://www.cmascenter.org/smoke/documentation/5.2/html/ch04s06.html#sect_programs_laypoint_plume_rise_fires)).
