About 'LWDNT' radiation output from WRF-CMAQ

Hello,
I’m running WRF-CMAQ and noticed that all values of LWDNT are 0.0 in the wrfout files.

Has anyone seen similar results?
Is this expected, or could it be due to missing inputs or configuration?

Appreciate any thoughts or experiences.

It’s been zero since WRF version 3.9, at least for RRTMG. I wouldn’t worry about it.

So, do you also get 0.0 values for LWDNT in your output?

I’m currently using WRF version 4.3 — is downgrading the version the only way to solve this issue?

I’m not sure it’s an issue that needs to be solved. You’d might have to ask the WRF development team at NCAR if you want more detail about this:

I just read my wrfout and the values of LWDNT are 0.0.

I think is a very normal phenomenon.Maybe you are researching cloud radiation flux, while LDWNT is “INSTANTANEOUS DOWNWELLING LONGWAVE FLUX AT TOP“. In an ideal state, this value is 0. You could research the LWDNB which is “INSTANTANEOUS DOWNWELLING LONGWAVE FLUX AT BOTTOM“
