I/O API installation confusion!

I have downloaded the tar file for I/O API and did the untar process. Now I am doing ./configure , make and make install process like we install other libraries.

But it’s not working.

Please help me with this.

Note that a lot of the installation process is dependent upon choices of Fortran compiler and compile-flags, and that multiple simultaneous installations (bsed on choice of compilers, debug-, profile-, or not,…) are supported–something that GNU autoconf does not handle cleanly.
