Running CMAQ v5.5 with cb05tucl-ae6-aq Mechanism

Hello All,

I’m using CMAQ v5.5 and it seems the “cb05tucl-ae6-aq” Mechanism is not included in this version. So if I want to run the CMAQ v5.5 with the “cb05tucl-ae6-aq” Mechanism, What should I do?

Newer CMAQ versions are a representation of many development cycles which are aimed at updating atmospheric processes representation within the CMAQ model including chemistry, hence why we drop older mechanisms with newer CMAQ versions. Simultaneously, development of the model structure is taking place, which may change how model inputs and options are read in and processed.

Therefore, I don’t recommend running CMAQv5.5 with older mechanisms from a logistics perspective, even though nothing in our code structure prevents you from doing so. However, if still want to you would have to:

  1. Develop emissions (or remap them from existing emissions – see Microsoft Word - Titlepage.doc & Does old emission input data work with new version of CMAQ-5.3.1? - #5 by Ben_Murphy).
  2. Port the mechanism itself (i.e., convert older GC/AE/NR/TR namelists to our CMAQv5.5 format) and regenerate the mechanism solver and related files.
  3. Recompile and run the model.
