Wrfout file of EQUATES

Hi CMAS forum,

I’m trying to run CMAQ with regcm4 data, until now I’ve been running CMAQ with EQUATES data, I think if I have a wrfout file I should be able to convert the regcm4 data to wrfout format and then run CMAQ with MCIP. I have not found the wrfout file that used to prepare the mcip input of EQUATES.

Any suggestions?

Best,
josh

Hi Josh,
The EQUATES 18 years of wrfout files are not posted due to file size. If you only need a single EQUATES WRF wrfout file we can post that single file to get you started. Let me know if you have a preference on what month/year to grab.

Hi Josh,
One more option. We do have wrfout files for the 12US1 domain for July-August 2018 as part of our CMAQv5.4 benchmark data.

These are from a WRFv4.3.3 simulation (rather than WRFv4.1.1 used in EQUATES) but should still be appropriate for what you are trying to do.

Oh my lord, that’s wonderful, thank you, Ms. Wonderful. Let me check these files!

Just want to give you a heads up that MCIP (and CMAQ) have some expectations that will require careful consideration for this effort. Off the top of my head I would advise caution with respect to the vertical grid, the surface layer scheme, the projection, and the precipitation buckets. Good luck!

I’ll keep that in mind, thank you!
