In CMAQv5.2, emission inputs are expected to be specified in moles/s for gaseous pollutants and g/s for aerosol species. Your file has a mix of many different units (e.g. moles/s, tons/year, 10^6 moles/year, KG/KG, M, KG/(MS), KG/M2) many of which cannot be handled by CMAQv5.2. To fix this problem, you need to process your emissions into the expected units.

Without knowing any specifics of how this file was generated, we cannot provide a specific answer. You will need to trace your way back through how this file was generated and understand the different processing steps and tool(s) used to go from the raw underlying inventories to this final file. Once you understand the process that was used, you need to adapt it to implement appropriate unit conversions to go from the units used in the underlying inventories to the units expected by CMAQv5.2

Also note that the main emissions processing tool supported through this forum is SMOKE, so while some users may have experience with non-SMOKE emission processing tools and might be able to answer some non-SMOKE emissions question, such support likely would be more limited than if you used SMOKE and encountered issues.

You need to find out what the conversion factor is for each variable.

Then note that multiplication by that conversion factor is a special case of “linear combination”, you can use M3Tools program m3combo to generate a file with the correct values. It won’t have the variable-names right, nor the UNITS attributes correct, so you can then use M3Tools program m3edhdr to fix up the vriable-names and units in that file.
