Preparing for MPAS-CMAQ inputs

Hi Jeff:
Thank you very much for the previous TBL & DATA files you gave, I have successfully run the MPAS-CMAQ 120 km res global test case and the result seems normal.
Still I have another question regarding the file preparation for MPAS input, since I want to run a case with a different set of date and domain. The MPAS input for the test case includes the init, sfc, soil nudging, ozone, and fdda files. Starting my MPAS journey with version 8.2, I’ve learned how to generate the init, sfc, and soil nudging files using init_atmosphere . However, I’m uncertain about how to prepare the ozone and fdda files.
I reviewed the MPAS 8.2.2 user guide but found no mention of these two files. Additionally, there doesn’t seem to be a valid option for fdda in the atmosphere.namelist . Could you please tell me how to generate these files?
Since the MPASv7.0 user manual is now unavailable in the repository, I’m unsure whether version 7.0 supported processing these files, unlike version 8.2.2. Could you clarify this as well?
Best regards,
Qi

I would caution against using 8.2.x for coupling with CMAQ. It is not entirely stable when transporting CMAQ species. Here is the user guide for version 7:

We have a process for creating the FDDA input and ozone files but have not yet made the scripts available to users. If you email me I can help you with making custom versions of these files.

Note that you would also need to create emissions for your domain and time period.

Hi Jeff:
Thank you very much for the user guide.
Yes you are right, currently using the MPASv8.2 for coupling with CMAQ is not ideal in comparison to the MPASv7.0. Also I will try to write a tool to convert emissions from the rectangular grid into the hex grid first.
Really appreciate your offer to help with the FDDA files. I will reach out once I have the emissions conversion task sorted.
Best Regards
Qi
