SMOKE v4.8 Public Release Announcement (Oct 2020)

Dear Air Quality Modeling Community,

The Community Modeling and Analysis System (CMAS) center at the UNC Institute for the Environment, in cooperation with the U.S. EPA, is pleased to announce the release of SMOKE version 4.8. The SMOKE v4.8 release includes various enhancements and bug fixes:

  • New MOVES process RatePerStart (RPS) that models off-network engine start exhaust and crankcase start exhaust emissions that were previously modeled under RatePerVehicle. (RPV mode).

  • New Off-Network Idling (ONI) mode that models off-network idling emissions from parking. lot, distribution center, and other off-network spaces.

  • New BEIS version 3.7 with the latest BELD5 landuse and the BEIS emissions factors input file (BEISFAC).

  • New Source Apportionment Regroup utility tool (SAregroup) that allows users to regroup existing SA-ready emissions output files into new group ID emissions output files.

  • SMOKE4AERMOD updates, various enhancements, and bug fixes.
