What's the correct format for the isam_control.txt

Hi all, I’m running CMAQ-ISAM v5.3.1 and having a question how to write my isam_control.txt correctly. For example, if I want to track O3 contributions from 3 emission sources, and differentiate the O3 attribution from NOx and VOC, which of the following format should I use??

Format 1:

TAG CLASSES |NITRATE, VOC
TAG NAME |T1
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS1, PT_EMIS1

TAG NAME |T2
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS2, PT_EMIS2

TAG NAME |T3
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS3, PT_EMIS3

Format 2:

TAG CLASSES |NITRATE
TAG NAME |N1
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS1, PT_EMIS1

TAG NAME |N2
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS2, PT_EMIS2

TAG NAME |N3
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS3, PT_EMIS3

TAG CLASSES |VOC
TAG NAME |V1
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS1, PT_EMIS1

TAG NAME |V2
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS2, PT_EMIS2

TAG NAME |V3
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS3, PT_EMIS3

Thanks!

Hello, Yusheng Zhao,
Format 2 is right one. Please refer to How to run CMAQ-ISAM.

Thanks! In your link, it’s suggested that each TAG NAME come with the TAG CLASSES, like

TAG NAME |N1
TAG CLASSES |NITRATE
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS1, PT_EMIS1

TAG NAME |N2
TAG CLASSES |NITRATE
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS2, PT_EMIS2

TAG NAME |N3
TAG CLASSES |NITRATE
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS3, PT_EMIS3

Is this same as the following?

TAG CLASSES |NITRATE
TAG NAME |N1
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS1, PT_EMIS1

TAG NAME |N2
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS2, PT_EMIS2

TAG NAME |N3
REGION(S) |EVERYWHERE
EMIS STREAM(S) |GRIDDED_EMIS3, PT_EMIS3

They are the same for being read by code. If each stream is used for tracking the same “CLASSES”, the last one is fine.

Thanks for the clarification.

@FengLiu Please, is there ISAM in CMAQv5.2?

I do not think so. Sorry for late response.
