How MCIP Identifies LAI or LAIv

Hello everyone,

I’m a new user of CMAQ and MEGAN. I really need some help. I want to use MEGAN3.2 in CMAQv5.4. Megan3.2 needs LAIv as one of the inputs. I used NOAH LSM in WRF, so the wrfout file has only LAI but not LAIv. I noticed that by default, MCIP will take the LAIv value from the wrfout file and provide it to the inline MEGAN3.2. What I want to know is that if the wrfout file has only LAI but no LAIv, will MCIP recognize this and automatically convert LAI to LAIv? Another question is whether LAIv will appear in the wrfout file after using the PX LSM in WRF? I would be grateful for any replies.

Hi @wxy!

I do not know the distinction between LAI and LAIv. MCIP processes LAI from NOAH LSM and LAI_PX from Pleim-Xiu (for WRFv4.1 and later versions). Only one LAI will appear in the MCIP output file.

Please let me know if you have any more specific questions about this issue.
