MCIP error when processing WRF V4.0.3 output

Dear all,

I am having trouble to run MCIP v4.5 with WRF V4.0.3. because the model in complaining about the WRF version. This is the error:

I changed the MCIP code at /src/setup.f90 and /src/setup_wrfem.f90 to also accept the V4 version:

My question is, if I make this changes, MCIP will keep its consistency or I will problems?
My WRF V4.0.3 is with terrain following sigma levels and not with hybrid vertical levels.

As long as you are not using the hybrid vertical coordinate in WRF (that is, the hybrid option is set to “0”), then I think you will be fine. MCIP is not yet set up to handle the hybrid vertical coordinate. The next release of MCIP (which will accompany CMAQv5.3) will support WRFv4.0+ and the hybrid vertical coordinate.

I am retuning the processing of WRF v4.1 to CMAQ and I am having some troubles.

My WRF configuration was:
No hybrid vertical levels;
WRF Mosaic with 10 categories; and,
Analysis nudging (FDDA and SFDDA).

I have changed the MCIP code to be able to accept the WRF v4+ as described in this post.

I faced another issue using WRF nudging option grid_sfdda = 2. The error was:

After this, MCIP ran but it returning a warning massage:

Besides this warning, I noticed that MCIP is creating two extra files, SOI_CRO and LUFRAC_CRO. Is this an indication that there is something wrong?

Even with this warning and these new files I tried to run SMOKE and it ran okay with no problem. Then I inserted it into CMAQ v5.2.1 and the model is stopping and it returns an issue with GRID_BDY_2D:

NCVGT: : NetCDF: Index exceeds dimension bound means an attempt to read beyond end-of-file, which for a time independent file should happen only if the relevant data has not been written. Which is not expected… What does ncdump -h (and then ncdump -v TFLAG) say about the file?

In my past MCIP cases, I have never seen the SOI_CRO and LUFRAC_CRO being written in a separate file. Is this normal?

According to the "ckfile3.f " code, my VGTYP3 is being set to -999, but in the header of WRF and MCIP files, the VGTYP3 =7, which is supported by IOAPI.

Dear @KK_Chen,

I updated my MCIP to the latest release. This solved my problems, and I ran MCIP and CMAQ just fine. So, I recommend you update your MCIP.
