I am trying to speciate the HTAPv3 and EDGAR emissions inventory to match the CRACMM1 or CRACMM2 mechanism. Would it be possible to obtain the relevant gspro, gsref, and invtable files for CRACMM-based speciation?
I would appreciate any guidance or shared resources.
Thank you for sharing the files for your 2022v1 platform.
I reviewed them and it seems that the speciation profiles are mapped to general SCC codes rather than to EDGAR or HTAP sector categories.
I wanted to ask whether you may also have speciation data directly prepared for EDGAR or HTAP sectors.
If such data are not available, could you please advise which crosswalk or mapping approach should be used to match the provided SCC-based profiles to EDGAR or HTAP sectors? In particular, I would appreciate any guidance on the recommended sector correspondence table, allocation method, or documentation that you normally use for this type of conversion.
I have a few additional questions regarding the file.
For PM2.5, does PM2_5_NO_BC mean emissions excluding only BC from the original PM2.5 emissions? My understanding is that the existing PM25_OTH refers to PM2.5 excluding both BC and OC emissions.
As far as I know, emissions from EDGAR or HTAP are provided as non-methane VOCs (NMVOCs) . However, in the VOC profile of the gspro file, there is an ECH4 component. Would that still be appropriate?
The CRACMM2 profiles include OC (through the AROC* variables) so we need to pass into SMOKE a special version of total PM2.5 that includes OC but excludes BC. That is what the “PM2_5_NO_BC” variable is. The “PM25_OTH” variable excludes both OC and BC, and gets used for CB6 speciation only.
This is a good catch…ECH4 should not have been included in the GSPRO for NMVOC. The NMVOC profiles should be renormalized without ECH4. We will correct this in future applications of CRACMM in HTAP.
