Unit of model-ready NO2 emission in EQUATES

Hello everyone,

I am using model-ready emissions from EQUATES (12US1). The attributes of the variables indicate that the unit of NO2 is molec/s. However, I am seeking clarification regarding the area information. Is it molec/cm²/s?

These emissions are not area-normalized fluxes (molec/cm2/s), but rather grid cell total emission rates (molec/s), following standard SMOKE emissions processing conventions.
